Yesterday was Memorial Day. A day to honor the men and women who died in service to this country. No politics. No score-settling. Just grief, and gratitude, and silence for the ones who aren’t coming home.

This is what the President of the United States posted on Truth Social yesterday morning:

“Happy Memorial Day to all, including the Dumocrats, who disrespect our Military and all of the tremendous success that it has had over the last year. God Bless those that have made the ultimate sacrifice. I love you all! President DONALD J. TRUMP”

He couldn’t do it. Couldn’t get through a single sentence of a Memorial Day message without taking a shot at political opponents. The fallen are mentioned — briefly, in the middle — sandwiched between a schoolyard insult and a self-congratulatory recap of his military record.

This isn’t about politics. It’s about basic human decency. Every family who lost someone — in any war, under any president, of any party — deserved better than to have their grief used as a backdrop for a campaign attack.

He didn’t honor the dead. He used them.
